The title track was released as third single. Many will agree this song is the least representative of Madonna's work and certainly of her image. Between all the controversies, this silly 'doo-wop' love song just seems a little odd. Nonetheless it became a #1 hit in the UK and Japan, while it got to #2 in Canada and #3 (Gold) in the US.

Video

There are two different videos for True Blue. The official video - released in Europe - was directed by James Foley. It shows Madonna and three backup singers (including her friend Debi Mazar) as some all-American bubblegum-chewing girls chatting about their true love. Compared to the controversial Like A Virgin and Open Your Heart, this song and video were totally different from Madonna's style. A second video for True Blue - released in the US - was made by Angel Gracia and Cliff Guest, winners of the MTV 'Make My Video'-contest.
