Say good-bye
To not knowing when
The truth in my whole life began
Say good-bye
To not knowing how to cry
You taught me that
And I'll remember
The strength that you gave me
Now that I'm standing on my own
I'll remember
The way that you saved me
I'll remember
Inside
I was a child
That could not mend a broken wing
Outside
I looked for a way
To teach my heart to sing
And I'll remember
The love that you gave me
Now that I'm standing on my own
I'll remember
The way that you changed me
I'll remember
I learned
To let go
Of the illusion that we can possess
I learned
To let go
I travel in stillness
And I'll remember
Happiness
I'll remember
(I'll remember)
(I'll remember)
And I'll remember
The love that you gave me
Now that I'm standing on my own
I'll remember
The way that you changed me
I'll remember (I'll remember)
No I've never been afraid to cry
Now I finally have a reason why
I'll remember (I'll remember)
No I've never been afraid to cry
And I finally have a reason why
I'll remember (I'll remember)
No I've never been afraid to cry
And I finally have a reason why
I'll remember (I'll remember)
No I've never been afraid to cry
And I finally have a reason why
I'll remember (I'll remember)
Credits

Produced by Madonna and Patrick Leonard
Madonna
contributed this song to the soundtrack of the 1994 movie 'With
Honors'. It was released as a single in March 1994 and reached #2 in the US (blocked from #1 by I
Swear by All-4-One), #7 in the UK and Australia, and #1 in
Japan. It stayed in the US charts for an amazing 26 weeks, all the
way through to late September and finally exited a week before the
debut of the first single from the Bedtime
Stories album, Secret. It received
a well deserved Gold certification in the US and Japan. The maxi-single
of I'll Remember features a live version of Why's
It So Hard and remixes from William Orbit, who would years later
produce the Ray Of Light album.
Video
Madonna
had collaborated with Alek Keshishian already for Truth
Or Dare and the video for This Used To
Be My Playground. Keshishian was the producer of 'With Honors'
so it was quite logical that he produced the video for I'll Remember
as well. It consists of images from the movie as well as Madonna
singing in a recording studio. Mainly because of the same look
the video was criticized for being "a virtual remake of the
Rain video". » Watch the video on our blog
