Give It 2 Me

Lyrics

What are you waiting for?
Nobody's gonna show you how
Why work for someone else
To do what you can do right now?

Got no boundaries and no limits
If there's excitement, put me in it
If it's against the law, arrest me
If you can handle it, undress me

Don't stop me now, don't need to catch my breath
I can go on and on and on
When the lights go down and there's no one left
I can go on and on and on

Give it to me, yeah
No one's gonna show me how
Give it to me, yeah
No one's gonna stop me now

They say that a good thing never lasts
And then it has to fall
Those are the people that did not
Amount to much at all

Give me the bassline and I'll shake it
Give me a record and I'll break it
There's no beginning and no ending
Give me a chance to go and I'll take it

Don't stop me now, don't need to catch my breath
I can go on and on and on
When the lights go down and there's no one left
I can go on and on and on

Give it to me, yeah
No one's gonna show me how
Give it to me, yeah
No one's gonna stop me now

Watch this

Get stupid, get stupid, get stupid, don't stop it (What?)
Get stupid, get stupid, get stupid, don't stop it (What?)
Get stupid, get stupid, get stupid, don't stop it (What?)
Get stupid, get stupid, get stupid, don't stop it

Get stupid, get stupid, get stupid, don't stop it
(To the left, to the right, to the left, to the right)
Get stupid, get stupid, get stupid, don't stop it
(To the left, to the right, to the left, to the right)
Get stupid, get stupid, get stupid, don't stop it
(To the left, left, right, right, left, left, right, right)
Get stupid stupid stupid stupid stupid stupid stupid...
(Left, left, right, right, left, left, right, right)

Don't stop me now, don't need to catch my breath
I can go on and on and on
When the lights go down and there's no one left
I can go on and on and on

Give it to me, yeah
No one's gonna show me how
Give it to me, yeah
No one's gonna stop me now

You're only here to win
Get what they say?
You're only here to win
Get what they do?
They'd do it too
If they were you
You done it all before
This ain't nothing new

You're only here to win
Get what they say?
You're only here to win
Get what they do?
They'd do it too
If they were you
You done it all before
This ain't nothing new

Give it to me, yeah
No one's gonna show me how
Give it to me, yeah
No one's gonna stop me now
Give it to me, yeah
No one's gonna show me how
Give it to me, yeah
No one's gonna stop me now

Give it to me

Album

Single

Give It 2 Me, the single This catchy uptempo track was produced by The Neptunes and has a great anthemic vibe. Pharrell backs up Madonna with some vocals and together they do a hilarious breakdown in the middle of the song. Remixes of the single were made by Paul Oakenfold, Eddie Amador, Tong & Spoon, Jody Den Broeder, Sly & Robbie and Fedde le Grand.

Even before it was promoted as second Hard Candy single, it gathered enough digital downloads during the week of the release of the album that it managed to debut at #8 in Canada, #57 in US and #73 in UK. Radio stations started playing it early June and a physical single was released on July 14, 2008 in the UK (11 in other European countries) and on August 5 in the US.

Give It 2 Me got to #7 in the UK and became her 61st Top 10 single! In Hungary, Spain and Turkey, it was a #1 hit. Other high chart positions included European Hot 100 (#2), Finland (#2), Belgium (#3), Italy (#3), Switzerland (#4), France (#5) and Germany (#8).

Video

Give It 2 Me, the videoThe straightforward and goofy performance video was shot early April in London, directed by Tom Munro  and Nathan Rissman. It premiered online on May 31. Madonna is seen recreating her Elle photoshoot by Munro in various costumes and is just having fun with Pharrell, who makes a guest appearance for some fooling around.

Tour

Give It 2 Me @ Sticky & Sweet Tour Although "there's no beginning and no ending", this song brings an end to the Sticky & Sweet Tour. Madonna loses the breastplate, preparing to give it to us on a club version of her latest single. Parts of the lyrics flash on the screens in the style of a shooter video game. Gradually, more and more dancers join Madonna, until they're all jumping on stage. Pharrell is seen on the screens, and even makes a special guest appearance in NYC and Miami. Following her singalong trademark, Madonna extends the song and makes the crowd give it to her. At the end of the party, she disappears behind the reformed cubicle screens, which leave no doubt: 'Game Over'.
