Bad Girl, released worldwide as the third single on February 2, 1993, suffered the most from the Erotica controversy, reaching a poor #36 in the US, #10 in the UK, #11 in Japan and #32 in Australia. Its only Top-10 positions were in Canada (#5) and Italy (#4). Yet many music critics gave the song positive reviews, with Entertainment Weekly calling it a "lonely-at-the-top, lovesick-victim song" and Billboard adding that it's "lyrically daring".
Video
As a single Bad Girl might have scored rather poorly, but the video by David Fincher is a true masterpiece. Actor Christopher Walken is a guardian angel, watching over bad girl Madonna. But he can't stop her from enjoying that 'sex, drugs & rock 'n' roll'... The video has some cool visual effects; definitely among Madonna's best!
