11 August - More setlist tidbits
Fansite MadonnaTribe posted a recap of the setlist and they dropped a few new hints:
The biggest news is Human Nature NOT being a mash-up with Britney's 'Gimme More', it's actually going to be an electric guitar-driven version, played by Madonna herself. While this clearly resembles a certain 3rd song on a certain old tour, in fact Madonna did consider Candy Perfume Girl before it got replaced by the 4th single of Bedtime Stories. Now, Madonna is playing the guitar in 4 different songs of the show, but 3 of them is with the electric guitar. In comparison, the Drowned World Tour had 3 acoustic and 1 electric guitar performances.

The new version of Vogue is based on the music of 4 Minutes and it contains a prominent sample of 'Give It To Me', a hit by Timbaland, Justin Timberlake & Nelly Furtado, not 'Promiscuous' as previously reported.

The promo tour version of Music starts off with a sample of 'Last Night A DJ Saved My Life' by Indeep.

10 August - More costume sketches and details
People Magazine got some more details about the tour costumes, including the first sketch from the 'futuristic rave' section would would be the 4th one with Madonna playing the guitar:
We've got the inside scoop from Madonna's costume designer on what the superstar will be rocking onstage for her upcoming tour:

Old Skool
Remember when Madonna was dancing the night away in N.Y.C. clubs? Costume designer Arianne Phillips took inspiration from the Material Girl's early years in the city to create "nostalgic and fun" looks that "take Madonna back to her roots." Designer Jeremy Scott contributed '80s-inspired pieces with prints from the late artist Keith Haring, who was a close friend of Madonna's and would also have turned 50 this year. Madonna – who will celebrate her 50th birthday on Aug. 16 – is even getting custom sneakers with Haring's art on them.

Gypsy Woman
One of the show's four parts has a gypsy inspiration. Phillips tells People that "Madonna is a big fan of gypsy culture and music." Givenchy designer Riccardo Tisci created this look for the singer – one of several costumes he designed for the tour. Phillips emphasizes Madonna's long-standing commitment to working with new designers: "[Madonna] always has these fashion collaborations, and it's my responsibility to make sure that it's part of the story, she says. "People look forward to finding out who she is collaborating with and what designers are working on the costumes."

Cloak and Dagger
Another costume from the gypsy segment is this Givenchy cloak. Phillips describes the overall inspiration for the tour as "Joan of Arc meets sexy robot," to draw on her "confrontational quality as a performer."

08 August - Another costume revealed
French site TF1 revealed another tour costume sketch, again by Givenchy. This one seems to be coming from the first section, the 'gangsta pimp' one, we see a cane in Madonna's hands, so it's more than likely to be the opening number, Candy Shop. On the French site you can see the already revealed gypsy costume plus the intriguing cloak, which could be also from either the first or third segments, as it was done by the same designer. We don't have any info from the 4th segment, the costumes of that part seems to be done by a different designer.

05 August - Madonna's costumes for her Sticky & Sweet Tour
Most people are lucky to work with Madonna once. Costume designer Arianne Phillips has lasted 11 years, from the singer's Pre-Raphaelite look for Ray Of Light to the urban cowgirl of Music to the Patty Hearst look of American Life and on and on and on. In other words, measured in Madonna time, Phillips is roughly 77 years old.
Still, La Ciccone's upcoming Sticky & Sweet tour has had its own unique challenges for her longtime stylist. "Normally we prep in April and May, and open in June," says Phillips. "This time, the tour begins in August. It's a nightmare. Everyone in Italy and France is on a beach sunning themselves."
Thankfully, everyone is a bit of an exaggeration, as Phillips goes on to detail a mile-long list of willing collaborators and everything they've designed for the trek, which begins Aug. 23 in Cardiff, Wales, and comes to the United States in early October. Givenchy's Riccardo Tisci designed two outfits, while Tom Ford provided bespoke suits for the band. Three pairs of shoes have been custom-made by Miu Miu, there are thigh-high boots courtesy of Stella McCartney, sunglasses from Moschino, and other outfits and odds and ends from Yves Saint Laurent, Roberto Cavalli, and Jeremy Scott.
Like her shows in the past, this tour will be divided into four sections. The first references gangsta pimp and Art Deco with Givenchy costumes. This, it would seem, is Madonna's current take on her longest-running fashion inspiration — the dominatrix. "It's a theme that runs throughout her career" Phillips says. "She's not afraid of being hard." The second section has been termed "Old School," and harkens back to Madonna's early days in New York, with Scott's outfit and some vintage prints from Keith Haring, the late graffiti artist and friend of Madonna who died of AIDS in 1990. "He and Madonna were friends. If her were alive, it would be his 50th birthday as well. So I thought, ‘What if we revisited that?'" Afterward, there's a gypsy section with more costumes from Givenchy. "Riccardo's a new young talent. If you look at Madonna's history with fashion, that makes him an obvious choice." Finally, there's a futuristic rave section with lots of Japanese influences.
And while The New York Times complained recently about Madonna's style choices, Phillips says getting older has had little effect on her sense of fashion adventure. "She always wants to push the envelope. There are no vanity considerations based on her age." As Phillips adds seconds later, "She looks good in everything." (source: Women's Wear Daily)

04 August - More details and final setlist revealed
Fansite MadonnaTribe reveals a lot more details from the show, plus they say the setlist is final now, which is basically the same as they posted before, with only one song changed.

The show features four main sections. The show opener, Candy Shop, has now a longer intro compared to the promo tour version. A musical intro a la Drowned World Tour, with bits and pieces of songs from Hard Candy that we will be hearing later in the show fades into the "C-A-N-D-Y" intro from the promo tour.

The clock ticking theme from 4 Minutes can be heard several times during the show. In the show intro, in Vogue and in the ' Get Stupid' interlude, which reminds of the Confessions Tour's Sorry video interlude. In 'Get Stupid' there are samples of Give It 2 Me, 4 Minutes and Beat Goes On and it's about our chance to save our planet from the various damages we created.

The use of music samples is very big on this tour. Many of the classic hits are musically re-arranged as mash-ups and the songs are sung on musical tracks heavily sampling other dance songs. Like A Prayer, for example, which, as previously reported by M-Tribe, has entered the set list is now replacing Impressive Instant and it's delivered using musical parts of the 1992 dance hit by Felix 'Don't You Want Me'.

Into The Groove, that contains a small sample of Madonna's Jump, is also delivered using musical parts of another dance song 'Toop Toop' by Cassius, while Borderline is a great "rocky/ska" re-invention of the classic 1983 ballad.

The first video interlude, a fast and sped up version of the James Bond theme Die Another Day, features exclusive new footage of Madonna as a boxer, from the brand new photoshoot by Tom Munro for the Tour Book.

The second video interlude mashes up Madonna's Rain with the Eurythmics' 'Here Comes The Rain Again', using their original version and leading to Devil Wouldn't Recognize You. Originally supposed to play the piano herself on this song, Madonna will now be placed on the piano, reminiscing a bit the Sooner Or Later performance from Blond Ambition.

After La Isla Bonita mixed with Lela Pala Tute, there's a live interlude with Romani/Gipsy song 'Doli Doli' which is not sung by Madonna, who will be back on stage to close the section with a fierce rendition of the Academy Award winning song You Must Love Me by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber.

29 July - More setlist tidbits
The same source as below hints at Like A Prayer replacing one of the non-classic songs of the setlist and being a mash-up with house anthem 'Don't You Want Me' by Felix. The video interludes are most likely Die Another Day, Rain and a different version of Give It 2 Me.

17 July - Life is a mystery
Fansite MadonnaTribe now reports that the massive hit Like A Prayer has been added to the setlist. It is currently unknown if it replaced any of the other songs, but with its inclusion, all of Madonna's 12 studio albums are now represented in the setlist (two of them being only video interludes)!

10 July - 2 Britney videos for tour?
The Sun now posted this article which talks about a possible mash-up of Beat Goes On & Piece Of Me, possibly meant for one of the video interludes. We don't know how accurate this info is:
Madonna & Britney @ VMA 2003They will need to invent a 27th letter of the alphabet to classify this.
If you thought Madonna and Britney Spears' snog at the MTV Awards in 2003 was X-rated, their latest collaboration makes that look tame.
The Sun revealed on Saturday how the Queen Of Pop and its fallen princess will join forces for Madonna's Sticky & Sweet tour.
Now details of their sessions have reached me — and they are hotter than the Los Angeles police on Britney driving the wrong way up a one-way street with both her sons on her lap.
The pair's sexy shenanigans will be broadcast to the crowd on Madge's upcoming world tour via 20ft screens. What a terrifying thought. I hope Britney doesn't ask if her bum looks big on that.
They will perform a mash-up of Madge track Beat Goes On and Britney's Piece Of Me, while they are unwrapped from costumes that can only be described as bondage mummy.
The pop duo will be wrapped in Bandages which will then be unravelled by leather thong-clad male dancers in scenes that would put even Russell Brand's moral compass in a spin.
An on-set source revealed: "It's absolutely classic Madonna. Probably the raunchiest stuff she has ever done. It leaves nothing to the imagination and will be very controversial.
"Britney and Madonna are unwrapped like mummies, to appear together almost naked apart from tiny leather bondage pants and knee-high boots.
"They then dance closely together, pressing their hands and bodies together.
"There will be big rows over whether it is sexy, shocking or both."
Britney has been filming scenes at a Hollywood studio and was snapped leaving a nearby hair salon looking more spruced up than she has for ages.
It's good that Madonna is helping her rebuild her career, but I'm still not convinced I'm ready to see her stripped down to her smalls.
The Toxic singer will also perform to Madge's 1995 track Human Nature.
And in one scene to be broadcast during the tour — which opens in Cardiff on August 23 — Britney loses her mind after getting stuck in a lift in a short film by New York photographer Steven Klein.
The source added: "We'll see Spears going crazy in an enclosed space — screaming, pulling her hair and banging her fists on the lift walls as it's stuck between floors.
"She really loses it."
I think that is what luvvies call method acting.

09 July - More setlist spoilers
According to fansite MadonnaTribe: Human Nature will still feature Britney on screens but has gone back to a more classic version with just a few insert of Britney saying "It's Britney Bitch" along the way.
Vogue from the 1990 album I'm Breathless is indeed the fourth song in the show, coming after Human Nature and closes the first set of the show. It is to be performed with a remarkable new arrangement containing samples and elements from 4 Minutes and Nelly Furtado's 'Promiscuous Girl'.
The First Album song Borderline is part of the set, it comes in the second segment, after Heartbeat, while Spanish Lesson now comes before Miles Away and not after.

The current setlist:

09 July - More details on Britney appearance
Britney Spears - click to enlargeBritney Spears and Madonna's latest hookup has been temporarily derailed by a technical glitch.
Spears had been scheduled to begin shooting a video montage for Madonna's upcoming tour this morning at the Lots soundstage in Hollywood. But production insiders say that because the set was not finished in time, cameras will not roll until tomorrow.
The set features an elevator, in, around and on which Spears will dance.
"The video will be very deep," a source in the Spears camp tells E! News. "You've never seen Britney like this before. It will blow your mind."
Madonna reached out to Britney to do the project, says the source.
The Material One's publicist, Liz Rosenberg, would only say that "there is footage being shot of Britney some time this week in conjunction with Madonna's upcoming tour" and that the segment was not a music video.
"That is all the information I have available," the rep added. "The rest is a secret." (source: E! Online)

05 July - A big star to feature on Madonna's show
Madonna has asked troubled Britney Spears to join her on tour - and pals hope she will give guidance to the young star.
The Queen Of Pop, 49, is set to record a video with Britney, 26, in New York tomorrow.
The footage will be broadcast on huge screens as part of Madge's Sticky and Sweet tour, which kicks off on August 23.
Madonna has also invited Britney to appear in person on some of the world tour dates.
A source close to Britney revealed: "They are recording a video together on Sunday that will provide the backdrop for part of Madonna's show.
"And they are talking about Britney taking the stage on a few of the dates too.
"There's no doubt that her and Britney together will spell fireworks again.
Comeback
"It's hoped that Madonna can help Britney get back to her old self. Appearing with Madonna would really kickstart her career again. She's been there and done it so could provide some great guidance."
Britney and Madonna stunned fans at the MTV Music Awards in 2003 by sharing a passionate kiss.
The source added: "If anyone can mastermind a Britney comeback, it's Madonna.
"Lots of people will be hoping there's a repeat of the kissing incident a few years ago."
The Toxic singer has always been a huge fan of Madge - and even converted to her Kabbalah religion. But it has been reported that their relationship cooled after Britney lost interest in the mystical Jewish faith.
The source added: "Maybe this means Britney is ready to devote to Kabbalah again as she tries to sort herself out."
Madonna's new tour to support album Hard Candy promises to be her sexiest yet.
She will turn 50 a week before it kicks off in Cardiff - but still plans to shock fans with a controversial stage show.
The singer will even pretend to be Mummified as part of a routine.
Britney lost custody of kids Sean Preston, two, and one-year-old Jayden James as she battled her demons. (source: The Sun)
~ Additionally, fansite MadonnaTribe reveals that the video is created for Human Nature which is going to feature samples of Britney's 2007 hit 'Gimme More'! The concept is about the criticism today's stars like Britney have to endure, just like how Madonna went through this in 1992.

03 July - Tentative setlist
Fansite MadonnaTribe has just posted a big setlist spoiler of the Sticky & Sweet Tour:
"Madonna's Sticky & Sweet tour opens with Candy Shop (very similar to the promo tour version) followed by a version of Beat Goes On very similar to the album version. Both Pharrell Williams and Kanye West will appear on video during the song. The third song in the setlist is the first GREAT surprise. It's the one and only Human Nature, from Bedtime Stories (and we'll not be sorry!!). The song will be presented in an original and UNIQUE way, but that's a surprise we don't want to spoil for the moment. We're sure the inclusion of this song will make lots of people very happy.

Section two of the show includes Into The Groove, a great number where she will be jumping rope with a little sample of the song Jump thrown in as well, followed by Heartbeat. The Fedde Le Grande version of Music, (just like the promo tour version) and She's Not Me follow.

The following section will opens with the song Devil Wouldn't Recognize You, Madonna will sing it live and play the piano onstage HERSELF for the very first time! After that we go into Miles Away, just like the promo tour, and a joyful version Spanish Lesson. Her great classic from True Blue arrives next: It's La Isla Bonita that will be presented in its "Live Earth incarnation", the Lela Pala Tute version!!! This third section is closed by one of the songs by Madonna that won an Oscar. It's the touching You Must Love Me, the beautiful ballad from Evita, written by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber especially for Madonna in the film. This version is more or less very similar to its original form.

The closing section of the tour includes the promo tour version of 4 Minutes followed by one of the greatest surprises fans will adore: Impressive Instant from the Music album!! Ray Of Light follows. It's basically the album version with some changes in the middle. The promo tour version of Hung Up is next. The tour closes with the latest single from Hard Candy, Give It 2 Me.

But that's not all folks! Madonna is also doing a great classic for her first album and she's doing it for the first time since the Virgin Tour. It's Borderline that will be presented like it has never been heard before and don't forget to look out for the great tour videos that will be directed by Steven Klein!"
