Madonna will be dancing and singing across the stages of the
world this spring and summer, it was announced today. The
Confessions Tour with concerts across major US cities, Canada,
Europe and Japan will begin in Los Angeles on May 21st. Confessions
tour dates were officially confirmed by Madonna managers Angela
Becker and Guy Oseary, along with Arthur Fogel, President of
The Next Adventure (a Live Nation Company), the tours worldwide
promoter.
Tour stops in North America for the Confessions Tour will include
arenas in Chicago, Boston, San Jose, Phoenix, Fresno, Las Vegas,
Philadelphia, Atlantic City, Miami, Montreal and New York. Overseas
appearances will take place in arenas, stadiums and outdoor
venues in Paris, France; Amsterdam, The Netherlands; Cardiff,
Wales; Rome, Italy; Dusseldorf and Hannover Germany; Horsens,
Denmark; Osaka and Tokyo Japan.
The Confessions Tour will be directed by longtime Madonna collaborator
Jamie King with Stuart Price once again on board as Musical
Director. Arianne Phillips and Jean Paul Gaultier, long standing
members of Madonna's creative team, will respectively oversee
and design costumes for the tour.
Madonna's previous tour, the 2004 Re-Invention
Tour was the most successful tour of that year, according
to Billboard Magazine.
The Warner Bros. Records mega star, whose current CD Confessions
on a Dance Floor debuted at No.1 in 29 countries, has already
begun rehearsals in Los Angeles with her talented troupe of
musicians and dancers. With a staggering 35 No. 1 hits on Billboard
dance charts during the course of her unparalleled career, it's
no surprise that Madonna issued the following mission statement
regarding the Confessions Tour: I'm going to turn the world
into one big dance floor, exhorted the Material Girl.
The multi-Grammy Award winning artist, songwriter, childrens
book author, producer and video visionary with an unrivaled
reputation for astonishing stage spectacles, has made musical
history many times over including international record sales
of over 200 million albums. A cultural innovator of astonishing
diversity and enduring appeal, Madonna has defined our era with
a sound, style and vision that has inspired countless artists
and millions of fans around the globe. In the process, she has
pioneered a new model of creative empowerment, overseeing a
multi-faceted career that encompasses virtually every aspect
of contemporary culture.

is thrilled to confirm that the creative collaboration which
brought the world Confessions On A Dance Floor, have teamed up
again! Designing genius Giovanni Bianco from Studio 65 in New
York will again work with Madonna as she prepares to dance her
way across the globe for the upcoming tour!
"Yes, this summer. A girl has to make a living, you know!
(Laughs). It's based on Confessions,
and it'll be one big disco club wherever we go. And I
want to do small and large venues. Smaller gigs in big cities,
and then stadiums in others. But no stadiums in America."
(Mar. 3)
"I would like to put her as close to her people - her
fans, her dancers, her fellow supporters - as possible,"
King said.
While that effect was achieved via the pit and the catwalk on
her re-Invention Tour, don't
expect Madonna to merely reinvent that tour and trot out all
the hits. The set list has been confirmed, King said, and it's
definitely Confessions-heavy,
with "some familiar faces" popping up from the past
two dance-themed videos, Hung
Up and Sorry. That
said, there will be a few yet-to-be-revealed fan favorites
on the set list as well.
"Listen, I love old Madonna songs - I don't know one person
who doesn't," King said. "But we want to focus mainly
on this album. I think people love it and they want to hear
it, so expect a lot of the songs from Confessions
on a Dance Floor." (Feb. 23)
Madonna has joined this year's line-up for the seventh annual
COACHELLA VALLEY MUSIC & ARTS FESTIVAL at the Empire
Polo Field in Indio, CA (Saturday, April 29 and Sunday, April
30). Look for Madonna Sunday in the Sahara dance tent with a
performance that comes prior to the launch of her summer concert
tour.
In an interview with John Norris on MTV's TRL yesterday, Madonna
talked about her tour plans and said that she was hoping to
include Stadium, Arena, and Small Theater shows. Two
venues she mentioned were the Roseland Ballroom in New York
City and the Wiltern Theater in Los Angeles.
She added she's currently working on chances to begin the tour
in May 2006 in Los Angeles, possibly at the Wiltern which only
seats 2200 people. She also hopes to incorporate an exploding
Disco Ball in the show. (Feb. 14)
Madonna will follow the Rolling Stones' example when she tours
the world this summer (06) - by mixing up dates between theatres,
sports arenas and stadiums. The pop superstar insists the ever-changing
venues will stop her from getting "bored" on the road.
She explains, "Originally I had the idea that I wanted
to do a little bit of everything - some small, some sports arenas
and then stadiums." The tour will kick off in Los Angeles
in May (06). Full dates and venues are yet to be announced.

"OK, I can't hide it anymore: I'm going on tour this
summer" (Madonna on Ellen, Feb. 08)
Unconfirmed jaunt will focus on new material Madonna is planning
a world tour starting this spring, sources say, and it may include
several European stadiums. Madonna rep Liz Rosenberg says the
singer won't make a definite decision until early March but
adds, "It looks good."
According to Rosenberg, the tour would emphasize her latest
album, Confessions on
a Dance Floor, with a few hits thrown in -- and include
dancers from David LaChapelle's crumping documentary, Rize.
"Her last tour was kind of a greatest-hits tour, and I
don't think she would want to repeat all the songs," Rosenberg
says of 2004's Re-Invention trek,
which grossed $79.5 million and was the year's third-best-selling
tour, according to Pollstar. "But there are a few off the
list that she left out." (source: Rolling
Stone, Feb. 07)
When attending the fashion show of Jean-Paul Gaultier
on January 25th, Madonna revealed that Gaultier will be designing
the costumes for her next show.
Sources say Arthur Fogel has nailed down the promotion rights
for the outing. Fogel is president of TNA International, Live
Nation's global touring division and has previously produced
Madonna's Re-Invention Tour and
Drowned World Tour.
When the Mad-Eyes team attended the G.A.Y. gig in London in
November 2005, we had the chance to ask some of Madonna's dancers
about the tour and several confirmed they were already booked
for the summer tour.
"If I go on tour, it would be next summer," Madonna
told Billboard in November. "And it would be all out disco,
with lots of disco balls. I would focus on dance music and the
new record. I already did the older stuff on my Re-Invention
tour."
